Emily is amazing! We had one session so far for our 1 year old pup and the things we have learnt to train him with are so helpful and effective that I was surprised our pup was able to understand and learn. Her instructions are clear and to the point with lots of great insight to a dog's psychology. Thank you Emily. We are definitely looking forward to more of the sessions to help us learn to train Ollie 🙂

There isn't enough words and space here to say how fantastic Emily and her team are! Her style of training, her understanding of dogs and humans (yes us as we are key to our puppy's training) is fantastic. Highly highly recommend.

Emily has been great in helping prepare our family for a new addition to our family. She's been invaluable in helping our older pup (and us) manage his anxiety and general behaviour! Couldn't recommend Emily or her methods more, we had full support!

Frequently Asked Questions — Dog Training

Dog training focuses on teaching everyday skills like recall, loose-lead walking, and settling. Behaviour work is for more complex concerns such as fear, aggression, or anxiety. If you’re unsure which one you need, I’m happy to point you in the right direction.

Dog training helps make everyday life with your dog easier and more enjoyable. It’s not just about teaching skills — it’s about reducing stress, building communication, and improving your dog’s ability to cope in real-world situations.

You might want your dog to walk calmly on lead, come when called, settle at home, or behave more predictably in public spaces. Training gives you the tools to handle those moments with more confidence and less frustration.

One-on-one sessions are especially helpful if you’re not ready for a group class or your dog struggles to focus around other dogs. We can build foundational skills first, at your dog’s pace, and gradually work toward environments with more distractions — including joining a group class if that’s your goal.

I offer one-on-one support for everyday skills that help dogs feel more settled and manageable in real life. This includes recall, lead walking, greeting politely, staying calm with visitors, and more. Sessions are practical, goal-based, and adapted to your dog and household.

Yes — I use reward-based methods. Rewards can include food, toys, or anything your dog finds motivating. These are used to reinforce behaviours we want to see more of, and to help your dog form positive associations with new experiences.

Food is often useful for teaching new skills or helping a dog stay focused, while toys or play can be helpful for building engagement or working with high-energy dogs. The type of reward depends on what works best for your dog, and it’s always used with a clear purpose — not just as a bribe.

No — you won’t need to reward your dog every single time forever, and it’s not bribery.

In science-based training, rewards are used to reinforce behaviour — especially when a behaviour is new, difficult, or being performed in a distracting environment. This process is supported by decades of research in learning theory and applied animal behaviour.

Bribery is when a reward is shown before the behaviour, as a lure or incentive to get the dog to comply. In contrast, reinforcement occurs after the behaviour is performed, which strengthens the likelihood that the behaviour will happen again in future.

As your dog becomes more consistent, we reduce how often rewards are given and vary the type of reinforcement. This helps maintain the behaviour over time while keeping motivation high. Just like humans don’t need to be paid every time they do something they’ve already learned, dogs can continue to perform trained behaviours with less frequent rewards — but reinforcement remains a part of maintaining behaviour long term.

Used correctly, rewards are not a crutch — they’re a critical part of effective, ethical training.

Sessions are held in your home or local area — wherever your dog feels comfortable and can learn best. Training in the environment where challenges actually happen often leads to more reliable progress.

It depends on your goals and how your dog responds to the training. Some people book a single session for specific support, while others choose ongoing sessions to build or maintain skills. There’s no fixed package — we work at your pace.

Yes. Early training is key to building long-term habits. I offer support for basic skills, socialisation, and helping puppies settle into home life without stress.
